According to the scientist, it is possible to adapt the vaccine knowing the nucleotide sequence of the virus, just as the Center's specialists have already done similar work for all previous strains. So far, there is no sample of the omicron-strain at the Center, they are waiting for it from the Ministry of Health, or “when we have an infected one, then we will isolate it.”

A new strain under the code B.1.1.529 was detected in South Africa on November 11 , isolated cases were also recorded in Japan, Canada, Spain, Sweden, Egypt, Austria and other countries. The head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova said that there are no cases of infection with the new strain in Russia.
