“People are looking forward to the end of the polar night and the appearance of the sun – everyone shares messages with each other, sends photos,” Melnikov said.
He explained that many residents have low mood, some people temporarily move to other places where there is sun.
At the same time, the teacher emphasized that during a long night in the city it is still light, as illumination, billboards and street lighting work.
In 2020, the polar night in the region came December 2. During this period, the sun does not rise above the horizon. The natural phenomenon affects Murmansk, Norilsk, Vorkuta, Naryan-Mar and Novy Urengoy.
