Cauda Infectious Disease Officer: Regular measures must be followed to contain the omicron COVID-19 strain 
Roberto Cauda, Italian professor of infectious diseases at Rome's Gemelli Hospital In a conversation with Izvestia, he named the methods of prevention that need to be carried out in connection with the spread of the omicron strain of coronavirus infection. According to him, this virus mutation is still poorly understood, but, presumably, it will be more infectious with each of the previous ones.

The specialist believes that to contain the virus, you need to take the most common measures – wear masks, gloves and maintain social distance. In addition, he stated the need to increase the rate of vaccination of the population. He also advised starting to vaccinate with a third dose of the drug, since this should cause a strong immune response in humans and help in curbing the spread of the new COVID-19 strain.
The infectious disease specialist urged to refrain from flying from South Africa and countries where a new type of infection. Assessing the effectiveness of vaccines against him, he said that they should protect against the omicron strain, albeit probably not 100 percent.
Earlier, the head of the World Health Organization (WHO) Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus urged not to “punish” countries that have discovered the omicron strain of coronavirus, and take rational and proportionate measures to combat the spread of infection.
