The prosecutor's office asked the court to appoint the former schema monk Sergius (Nikolai Romanov) four years in prison. This was reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the Izmailovsky Court of Moscow.
The disgraced father was accused under three articles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation: arbitrariness, inducement to suicide and violation of the right to freedom of religion.
