Israel will close borders for foreigners due to a new strain of COVID-19. Such a measure was decided by the ministerial commission to combat coronavirus at an emergency meeting on the night of November 27-28, RIA Novosti reports. – for the spread of the omicron-strain COVID-19. The meeting of the commission was attended by representatives of the main ministries and departments, as well as doctors.

“The following decisions were made at the meeting: foreigners from all countries will be prohibited from entering Israel, except in cases approved by the Committee on Exceptions”, – stressed in the department. The decision takes effect immediately.

Israelis returning from abroad will have to take a PCR test at the airport, after which they will have to undergo quarantine and at the end of this period they will have another analysis. For those who have been ill and vaccinated, isolation will last three days, for those who are not vaccinated – seven days with a negative retest and 14 days without it.

Israeli citizens arriving from “red” African countries, where there is a high incidence of coronavirus, will undergo quarantine in specialized hotels. In addition, for the confirmed carriers of the omicron strain, it was decided to conduct “digital surveillance.” It is assumed that it can become the most dangerous variant of infection.
