According to statistics, the number of murders as of November 2021 is 12 percent higher than the same figure for the previous year (179 murders were committed then). The largest number of crimes in Washington over the past 20 years was recorded in 2002 – we are talking about 262 murders. Since 2003 (248 cases), the number has not reached 200 cases.
According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the number of homicides across the country rose sharply in 2020 (compared to 2019). Such a dramatic change was described by experts as “an alarming growth unprecedented in modern US history.” Attacks with firearms increased by 8 percent and aggravated by 6 percent.
