Millions of Android users fall victim to hackers

Doctor Web: a new Trojan collected personal data of users from Huawei smartphones built into games. This was reported to Gazeta.Ru by Doctor Web specialists.

IT experts said that they had discovered a new Trojan Android.Cynos.7 in dozens of games, which collects personal data from users from Huawei smartphones. They noted that at least 9.3 million Android device owners downloaded viral applications available in the AppGallery store.

According to experts, the new version of the Trojan, having received permission from the user to control phone calls, collected his personal data, including mobile number, location of the gadget, network parameters and technical characteristics of the device. In addition, one of the Trojan's functions was to display ads.

Doctor Web analysts warned that a mobile number leak could have serious consequences for users. The company has already notified Huawei of the identified threats. Currently, all applications containing the Trojan have been removed from AppGallery.

Earlier it became known that Russia became one of the world leaders in the number of hacker threats to users of the Android operating system. Experts found that from May to August 2021, the total number of malicious programs for Android in Russia increased by almost a third (32.6 percent) compared to the figures at the beginning of the year.
