Russians have discovered a way to identify palm oil in cheese

Chef Matveev: you can determine the presence of palm oil in cheese using the price

Chef, member of the Chefs Team Russia community Andrey Matveyev revealed to Russians a way to identify palm oil in cheese. He told the Prime agency that the presence of palm oil can be determined by price.

According to the chef, tactile, by sight or taste, it is very difficult to determine the presence of any vegetable oil in cheese due to the taste additives. He urged to focus on the price, since relatively inexpensive varieties can often contain additives.

In addition, when cutting, semi-hard cheese with palm oil can break and crumble. The specialist advised to leave the piece of cheese at room temperature. After a while, the natural cheese will dry out, and droplets of oil will appear on the product with additives. However, such signs are possible if the production technology is violated, he added.

He also recalled that only a product made from milk can be called cheese. “There is a label“ cheese product ”- these are products containing vegetable fats. Only a product made from milk can be called cheese, ”the specialist explained. Matveyev added that expensive cheeses, blue cheeses, Camembert or Brie are 99 percent of the time made from milk and practically never counterfeited.

Earlier, Dmitry Merezhko, a teacher at the School of Wine, told Russians how to choose the best champagne for the New Year … According to the expert, in the super-economy segment in the price range up to 300 rubles, they sell not sparkling wine, but sparkling wine drinks. In the range of up to 800 rubles, Merezhko urged to pay attention to sparkling wines from Russia.
