Virologist announced the passage of the peak incidence of COVID-19 in Russia

Virologist Altstein: Russia has passed the peak in COVID-19, but the incidence will remain high

Russia has passed the peak in COVID-19, but the incidence will remain at a high level. This was stated by the virologist, chief researcher of the Gamaleya Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology Anatoly Altstein at the conference “Treatment of COVID-19 and the epidemiological situation,” RIA Novosti reports.

He noted that the high incidence rate will persist until those until vaccination results improve in the country. In his opinion, non-working days had little impact on the coronavirus pandemic, however, the incidence rate in Moscow has decreased significantly.

“I nevertheless think that we have now passed the peak,” Altstein said during a speech at the conference … At the same time, he stressed that more than three percent of patients die from COVID-19 in Russia.

Earlier, Anatoly Altstein expressed the opinion that the coronavirus pandemic could end in 2022, but the delta strain of the virus will still continue to exist long time. He also hoped that there would be fewer deaths from COVID-19 in the future.
