Infosecurity: scammers in Russia use the word “mortgage” to steal payment data

over 60 phishing domains with the word ipoteka. Of these, about half are new sites, allegedly offering citizens assistance in obtaining housing loans. In reality, these sites were originally created to steal payment data from Russians, Infosecurity told Rossiyskaya Gazeta.

Scammers on such sites promise to get a mortgage without bureaucracy and without proof of income. Those who believed them risk being left without money and without real estate, experts warned.

Kaspersky Lab noted that many can fall for the bait of pseudo-assistants, given that interest in the topic of mortgages is now great. They advised to deal only with well-known and trusted services.

Earlier it was reported that a new bill is being worked out in Russia to combat telephone scammers. It is proposed to coordinate transactions with relatives or trusted persons so that they can cancel transfers in case of suspicion.
