The 24-year-old Russian athlete lost in the decisive match of the group stage. Rublev's rival was the Norwegian Kasper Ruud. Rublev was defeated with a score of 6: 2, 5: 7, 6: 7 (5: 7). Thus, he was left without participation in the semifinals.
Another representative of Russia, Daniil Medvedev, will pair Ruud. Previously, he was stronger than the Italian Yannick Sinner. In another semi-final, Serb Novak Djokovic and Alexander Zverev from Germany will meet.
Rublev is fifth in the ATP singles ranking. His opponent Ruud is the eighth racket in the world.
Rublev became the winner in ten ATP tournaments. Eight of them are in singles. At the Tokyo Olympics, he won gold in the mixed double with Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova.
