White House denies Biden's refusal to consider Xi Jinping as his friend

White House spokesman Psaki: Biden did not say that he did not consider Xi Jinping a friend

White House spokesman Jen Psaki denied the refusal Joe Biden considers Chinese leader Xi Jinping to be his friend. According to her, the head of state did not say that, reports TASS.

“The President did not say this. The President considers him to be a person whom he has known for a long time, with whom he can have a sincere relationship. I cannot talk about how people in China are described as they know in the world. I can only describe how the president views this relationship, “the spokeswoman said.

Psaki also refused to directly answer the question of whether Biden Xi Jinping asked for cooperation between the PRC and US intelligence services regarding the origin of the coronavirus. She said that the American side wants this and insists, the head of state has repeatedly spoken out on this matter, and the national security officials clearly conveyed the information.

The White House spokesman concluded that Washington is seeking greater participation from Beijing, transparency of data and information regarding the emergence of COVID-19.

Earlier, Psaki, speaking about Biden's expectations from the online summit with Xi Jinping, suggested that the American leader still refuses to consider his Chinese colleague an “old friend”, which speaks of its sequence. However, the US president is confident in a frank dialogue with the head of the PRC, since his colleagues have repeatedly held personal meetings.
