“Today, for the first time in the history of the new State Duma, its deputy visited the capital's pre-trial detention center. It was Ksenia Goryacheva, a member of the New People party. She got acquainted with the conditions of detention of the prisoners to the extent that this is possible without going around the cell, and also tasted the bread – white and gray – which the prisoners are fed. She even took it with her to discuss its quality with colleagues and human rights activists, “the observer said.

According to him, the deputy discussed with the administration of the pre-trial detention center the prevention of recurrence of crimes among prisoners, as well as the rehabilitation of those who had served term of punishment.

On November 17, it was reported that a deputy from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, Valery Rashkin, suspected of illegal hunting for moose, faces a prison term of three to five years. The Prosecutor General asks to initiate a criminal case under part two of Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Russia (“Illegal hunting”), the punishment for which provides for a fine from 500 thousand rubles to a million or imprisonment for a term of three to five years.
