So, the head of the department asked the republic's authorities to investigate the incident with the shooting on vacationers from Russia in the city of Pitsunda. The press service of the department indicated that the travelers were not provided compensation for the damage caused.
“We know that the leadership of Abkhazia is doing a lot to create the most favorable conditions for the rest of Russian tourists,” Doguzova emphasized and added that the issues of ensuring the safety of vacationers should be under special control.
In addition, following the meeting, the parties signed a memorandum that fixes agreements on the development of Russian-Abkhaz relations in the field of tourism.
Earlier, on June 15, two Russian tourists were injured when shooting at the Apsny restaurant in the resort town of Pitsunda due to a conflict with a local resident, a 42-year-old citizen of Abkhazia, Dmitry Piliya. It was noted that the man has a conviction for the illegal acquisition, possession and carrying of firearms.
