Gaz-System announced the completion of the laying of the Baltic Pipe gas pipeline from Denmark to Poland

Polish gas operator Gaz-System announced the completion of the laying pipelines of the Baltic Pipe gas pipeline, which connects the republic with gas fields in Norway. As stated in the message on the project operator's website, the construction is actually completed, within a year the gas pipeline will have to undergo the necessary tests, technical tests and approvals.

Taken on Thursday 18 November. Government Commissioner for Strategic Energy Infrastructure Piotr Naimsky stressed that this day brings Poland much closer to differentiating gas sources and refusing to supply from Russia.

The official recalled that the contract with Gazprom is valid until December 2022. Deliveries through it amount to 10 billion cubic meters per year. This capacity can be fully taken over by Baltic Pipe, which has a comparable throughput.

The gas pipeline is 275 kilometers long. It passes through the waters of Denmark, Sweden and Poland. The project cost was estimated at $ 1.7 billion.

In September of this year, Poland confirmed that it does not intend to renew the contract with Gazprom on gas supplies. This was first announced in November 2019.
