The Ministry of Digits is considering the possibility of limiting the verification of QR codes by the application “State Services” Stop Coronavirus “due to the growing number of phishing sites that create fake QR codes. This was announced by the head of the department Maksut Shadayev, reports TASS.

“We are now considering the possibility of restricting the reading of QR codes only by our application. It won't be like it used to be when you just looked from the camera, “he suggested.

Earlier, the Ministry of Digital Science informed that in Russia, multifunctional centers began to print paper certificates of vaccination against COVID-19 with a QR code to citizens who do not have access to the portal of public services. They explained that his task was to develop a technical solution that would provide MFC employees with access to the information data of the Ministry of Health.

On November 12, the State Duma introduced draft amendments on the use of QR codes, which confirm the fact of vaccination against coronavirus or past illness in the last six months. The government has proposed to oblige passengers on trains and planes throughout Russia to demonstrate the code.
