Bulgarian President appreciated the possibility of enmity with Russia

Bulgarian President Radev said that Russia cannot be their enemy with Russia. In his opinion, Moscow cannot be the enemy of Sofia, TASS reports.

“Russia cannot be a model of our development, but Russia cannot be our enemy, at least because in the memory of our citizens it is the liberator of our people. There is a lot of speculation with regard to Russia, I can say that in this difficult situation a dialogue is necessary, which in Russia-EU relations has been violated, is in a critical state, “Radev said.

The head of state emphasized the importance of dialogue in relations between countries. He stressed that pragmatism is necessary in foreign policy, and the policy of introducing new anti-Russian sanctions over Crimea does not give any effect. To a clarifying question about the ownership of the peninsula, he replied that “at the moment, the Crimea is Russian.” The President also noted that Russia is one of the key factors in the fight against terrorism.

Earlier, the Russian Embassy in Bulgaria confirmed that Gazprom had increased gas supplies to the country on favorable terms after an appeal from the Bulgarian authorities. According to the embassy, in November the cost of gas for Bulgaria fell to 93.19 leva (about 46.55 euros) per megawatt per hour, which is about half the European average.
