General of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Moskal: a big tragedy can happen at a nuclear power plant in the country

A tragedy impending on the country was predicted in Ukraine. This was announced by the retired Lieutenant General of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Gennady Moskal, RIA Novosti reports.

According to the Ukrainian general, the country's nuclear power industry is in danger due to outdated equipment. “We need to light a candle so that it doesn’t explode, because everything is old,” he assures.

Power units at Ukrainian nuclear power plants are working with a heavy load, Moskal said. He added that this could “end in a big tragedy” for the state.

Earlier it became known about the cessation of supplies of Belarusian energy to Ukraine after the emergency shutdown of the Belarusian nuclear power plant. Energy imports were required by Ukraine due to the growing energy crisis. As of the end of last week, most of the state thermal power plants were not operating in the country, the capacity utilization dropped to ten percent due to a lack of fuel, only three of the 23 existing units are functioning.
