EU and Ukraine discussed suspension of Nord Stream 2 certification

European Commissioner Simpson discussed the certification of Nord Stream 2 with the head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Energy German Galushchenko on suspension of certification of the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline operator. She wrote about this on her Twitter account.

Following the conversation, Simpson noted that the European Union (EU) will continue to support Kiev regarding energy security. She also stressed that it was an extremely important meeting, at which they discussed the latest information regarding Nord Stream 2.

Earlier, Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the EU Vladimir Chizhov said that Germany has not yet made political statements to Russia due to the suspension of certification for Nord Stream 2. “So far, with regard to the official position, primarily of Germany, which is the recipient of this project, we have not heard any political statements in this regard,” the diplomat said. He noted that the Kremlin would not like to see political motives in Berlin's actions.

On November 16, the German Federal Grid Agency notified Gazprom and other parties to the Nord Stream 2 agreement that reasons.
