Belarusians banned from selling new cars to Russians

Belarusian dealerships agreed not to issue new cars to Russians

Belarusian dealerships refused to sell new cars to Russians. They refer to agreements with Russian colleagues that allow only buyers with Belarusian passports to issue documents for new cars, writes Autonews.ru.

There are many popular car models in Belarusian warehouses. They are sold without extra charges at the cost recommended by manufacturers, and the prices themselves are often lower than Russian ones. The Russian Association of Auto Dealers (ROAD) considered such an agreement impossible in a competitive market.

However, a source in one of the official Lada dealerships in Belarus said that Russians are offered to register a car for relatives with a Belarusian passport. “Then this car can be reissued directly to the new owner. Because we cannot issue a car with a Russian passport, it is absolutely impossible, ”he said. Renault and Volkswage dealers also reported about the ban on the sale of cars to Russians.

In July, Avtostat reported that there was a shortage in the new car market in Russia. Some consumers who would like to buy a car without a run are forced to purchase used cars. Meanwhile, AvtoVAZ will prohibit the sale of cars at no extra charge.
