Foreign Minister of Belarus Makei: Minsk is ready to toughly respond to any sanctions pressure
Minsk is ready to toughly respond to any new sanctions against the country , said the head of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry Vladimir Makei, he stressed that it is high time for European politicians to understand this. His words are quoted by the BelTA agency.
“Belarus is ready to respond as tough as possible to any sanctions pressure from our European partners. The imposition of sanctions is absolutely unacceptable, “the Minister of Foreign Affairs said.
Makei added that the republic is ready to provide the European Commission with access to the border with Poland, but if Warsaw closes the border, Minsk will give an adequate answer.
According to the head of the Foreign Ministry, such a decision will turn Belarus into a rogue state. The diplomat explained that this will become a problem for Poland as well. “It’s customary for them: first create a problem, and therefore think how to get out of it,” he concluded.
Earlier it became known that the EU was preparing to introduce new sanctions against Belarus due to the aggravation crisis in Europe. It is noted that they will affect about 30 individuals and legal entities, including Foreign Minister Makei and the Belarusian airline Belavia.
