101-year-old nurse reveals the secret of longevity

Gertrude Fredette of Sudbury, Ontario, celebrated the landmark date on Tuesday, November 9th. A year ago, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a woman had to celebrate her 100th anniversary alone, communicating with her family via video link. In 2021, the long-liver was able to meet with relatives and celebrate her birthday in a restaurant.

Despite his venerable age, Fredette is in excellent physical shape and mood. She named abstinence from smoking, healthy eating, regular intake of vitamins, as well as love for dancing and sports as the reasons for her longevity.

The woman worked as a nurse all her life. In addition, together with her husband, she was engaged in horse breeding on her own farm. Now Fredette has 22 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. The pensioner recalls the past years with pleasure. “If I lived poorly, I would not be here,” she joked.

Earlier, a former school cafeteria worker from the UK celebrated her 105th birthday and shared the secret of longevity. She believes she lived so long because she led a healthy lifestyle and ate a healthy diet.
