New fines prepared for Russian drivers

“Kommersant”: new fines for drivers will appear in the updated Code of Administrative Offenses concerning drivers. Kommersant writes about this with reference to the draft document from the Ministry of Justice.

In particular, a measure is being worked out to temporarily restrict a driver's license pending a court decision. At the same time, the department plans to completely abandon the use of such a measure for traffic violations as administrative arrest

According to the draft, if the code is approved, a fine of 40 thousand rubles will be imposed for a “repeated” refusal to stop the car at the request of the police during the pursuit. Also, the previously announced sanctions may enter the Code of Administrative Offenses. So, driving while drunk with a child in the cabin will be punished with a fine of up to 50 thousand rubles and deprivation of rights.

In addition, the project includes fines for repeated violations. Among them, a number of driving with an unreadable dirty number (5 thousand rubles or deprivation of rights), and excessive tinting (3 thousand rubles).

Earlier, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Constitutional Legislation Irina Rukavishnikova announced that Russia a new fine for drivers for dangerous driving. It will be 3000 rubles. “Boorish behavior on the roads, or dangerous driving, can receive not only a legal definition, which has existed since 2016, but also specific preventive measures. They are proposed in the draft of the new Code of Administrative Offenses, “the senator said.

According to her, we are talking about abrupt rearrangements across two lanes at once, about non-observance of the distance, about high-speed overtaking, which are of a systemic nature. It is expected that if the new Code of Administrative Offenses is adopted, reckless drivers will be punished with fines for each individual violation plus a fine for dangerous driving.

Earlier in Moscow, cameras began to record driving without headlights on. The city authorities have explained that the data from the new camera will be manually rechecked. Violators face fines.
