The Russians chose to celebrate the New Year at home instead of abroad

OneTwoTrip: there has been an increase in demand for flights to Kaliningrad and Kazan for the New Year

wanted to celebrate the New Year at home instead of foreign countries. KP.RU writes about this.

So, since October there has been an increased demand for air tickets with departures in late December and early January. At the same time, most travelers prefer to spend their winter holidays within the country – foreign destinations account for only nine percent of all bookings.

Separately, experts noted Kaliningrad and Kazan as the most popular New Year's destinations – 45 and 20 percent were sold there, respectively. more tickets than in the fall of 2020. The average cost of air travel is from 5.5 to 6 thousand rubles one way.

According to experts, travel in Russia is in demand due to the constantly changing rules for entering foreign countries, which creates difficulties when planning a trip. Also, low demand is influenced by high prices for flights. For example, you can buy a one-way ticket to the UAE for an average of 28 thousand rubles, to the Maldives – for 30.5 thousand.

Earlier in November, Dmitry Gorin, vice-president of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR), said about “ explosive demand ”among Russians for overseas vacations during the New Year holidays. “The countries have established clear entry rules. And the tourists themselves had more confidence when planning their travel. In addition, the exchange rate stabilized, ”the expert explained.
