Earlier, the deputy of the Polish Sejm Janusz Kowalski said that Warsaw should demand from the European Union and the United States to introduce new sanctions against Belarus and Russia due to the migration crisis on the Polish-Belarusian border. According to him, one of the options for restrictions against Moscow could be sanctions on the sale of Russian coal to the EU.
On November 10, speaking at a briefing, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that any sanctions against Belarus due to the migration crisis are illegitimate. She noted that the actions of the authorities of Lithuania and Poland are more like attempts to punish Belarus, and not to resolve the crisis situation.
