Author of the law on public authority responded to criticism from Tatarstan

Senator Klishas: non-recognition of the law on public power is an attempt to attract attention ratings – so one of the authors of the bill, Senator Andrei Klishas, responded to an article where the proposal was called scandalous. In a conversation with “Lenta.ru”, he also added that the system of public power has unity throughout Russia.

One of the leading media outlets in Tatarstan, “BUSINESS Online”, published an editorial on November 9, where it criticized Klishas's bill – Krasheninnikov, calling him scandalous, and announced that she would continue to call the head of the republic, Rustam Minnikhanov, president.

“How and whom the media will be called does not matter, this is an attempt to attract attention and raise ratings. The system of public power has unity throughout the territory of the Russian Federation, this concerns both the construction of a system of public authorities and the powers and name of the head of the subject of the Federation, “Klishas said.

On November 9, the State Duma adopted in the first reading a new draft the basic law on regional power, which defines the powers of the subjects, and also removes the prohibition for governors to be elected for more than two consecutive terms. The law, among other things, prohibits the head of Tatarstan from being called president – the republic is now the only region of Russia where such a name has been preserved for the head of the subject. Six deputies of the State Duma from Tatarstan opposed the adoption of the document in the first reading.
