The decision to introduce a state of emergency was made for the first time in the history of the Lithuanian republic. It was previously approved by the country's government. Now he was supported by the majority of the Diet deputies. 122 parliamentarians voted for this decision, one opposed.

The state of emergency will come into force on Wednesday, November 10, and will last a month. It will operate at a distance of five kilometers along the entire Lithuanian-Belarusian border. It is noted that it is being introduced in order to eliminate the threat posed to society by the massive influx of migrants.

The measures taken, in particular, provide for the restriction of the right of correspondence, telephone conversations and other types of communication for refugees in the emergency zone. In addition, Lithuanian citizens will be banned from entering the border area.

On the eve, the Lithuanian authorities sent troops to the border with Poland and Belarus due to another exacerbation of the migration crisis, during which a huge group of illegal migrants from the Middle East tried to break through to Polish territory.
