Previously it was reported that Saakashvili, who went on a hunger strike 39 days ago and was transferred to a prison hospital, physically and verbally abused the hospital staff. The incident is being studied by the General Inspectorate of the Ministry of Justice, after which an appropriate decision will be made.

Mikhail Saakashvili was detained in Georgia on October 1 after he illegally entered the country. The politician was imprisoned under a sentence that was passed in absentia to him in the cases of the murder of banker Sandro Girgvliani several years ago. Saakashvili went on hunger strike in prison.
