Details of possible participation in the certification of Nord Stream 2 were revealed in Kiev

Germany will take a decision on Kiev's participation in the certification of Nord Stream 2 by November 14

Head of Ukrainian Gas Transmission System Operator Sergei Makogon said that the German regulator will make a decision on the application filed by Kiev for participation in the certification process for the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline operator until November 14. He announced this in his Facebook account.

“The decision is expected next week,” wrote Makogon.

On October 20, the company “Operator GTS of Ukraine” applied to the German regulator for participation in certification of the operator of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. Then Makogon explained that in this way Ukraine is trying to resist the launch of the project.

Earlier, the Ministry of Economy of the Federal Republic of Germany sent to the Federal Network Agency (regulatory body) a conclusion on the certification of the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline. The department did not see a threat in the Russian pipeline and admitted that it would not pose a threat to gas supplies to Germany and the European Union. The German regulator will continue to analyze the compliance of Nord Stream 2 with the legal requirements of the international association. Presumably, the certification of the Russian gas pipeline will take about three months.

Ukraine has expressed disappointment with this decision of the German department. “As for the decision of the German regulator, we are upset. And already there is a position of “Naftogaz” on this issue, that is, directly to the company that is involved in this process. And we will bring our position to the German partners, ”said the country's Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba, adding that Kiev intends to work to ensure that the decision“ is not taken hastily, quickly, without careful analysis and study. ”
