Politico: in the administration of the United States to develop sanctions against China
MOSCOW, 31 Jul — RIA Novosti. Senior advisers to the President of the United States Donald trump behind the scenes trying to develop economic measures against China on the background of the situation around North Korea, writes Politico, citing two officials in the US administration.
These measures are intended to “punish” China, the newspaper notes, also pointing to the dissatisfaction with the trump regarding the situation with North Korea and inactivity of Beijing on this issue.
According to the newspaper, aides of trump held meetings during the week, during which they discussed possible economic measures. Sources told the newspaper that advisers trump will discuss measures against China Monday and the final resolution may be made within the current week.
Among the measures under consideration, according to officials, there are trade restrictions and economic sanctions.
At the same time, officials stressed that it is too early to say what decision the President himself.
Earlier, the trump in his microblog on Twitter wrote that he was disappointed in China, as Beijing has done nothing to resolve the problem of the DPRK. The U.S. permanent representative to the UN, Nikki Haley also called on Beijing to begin to take action against Pyongyang.
