The Ukrainian foreign Ministry criticized the statement of the diplomatic representatives of Italy in Russia Cesare Maria Ragaglini on the legality of the referendum in the Crimea. It is reported RIA Novosti citing local media.
Ragaglini called the reunification of Russia with Crimea “vote for independence” and criticized the assistance to Kiev from the EU. According to the diplomat, the talks in Kiev on Association with the EU was an obvious attempt to bring Ukraine under the historical influence of Russia.
Ukrainian Ambassador to Italy Yevhen Perelygin said that the words Ragaglini contradict the position of the leadership of Italy, “beyond his competence” and harm relations with Rome and Kiev.
