Mikhail Saakashvili will appeal to court against deprivation of Ukrainian citizenship
The former Governor of the Odessa region and the ex-President of Georgia Mikhail Saakashvili said that he intends to appeal against the decision to deprive him of Ukrainian citizenship in the administrative court.
“We will go to the administrative court. If the administrative court does not, then go to Strasbourg”, — said Mr. Saakashvili in interview to the edition “Ukrainian truth”.
The deprivation of Mikhail Saakashvili Ukrainian citizenship became known on 26 July. The Ukrainian authorities explained their decision by the fact that Mr. Saakashvili “received Ukrainian citizenship by deception”. He said he intends “to fight for their legitimate right to return to Ukraine” is not going to seek refugee status.
Recall that in November last year, the former President of Georgia resigned from the post of head of the Odessa regional state administration, while accusing the President of Petro Poroshenko in support of the “bandit, criminal clans” and that he “gave Odessa oblast corrupt and enemies of Ukraine”.
