First U.S. stop supporting one of the opposition groups in Syria

Washington decided to stop supporting one of the factions of the armed opposition in Syria. This was stated on Thursday, July 27, at a briefing for journalists the representative of the coalition led by US Colonel Ryan Dillon, reports TASS.

According to him, we are talking about the group “Shuhada al-Karten” (Shohada Al Quartyan), which operates in southern Syria. Dillon said that its members “unilaterally, without the permission of the United States and the coalition or coordination of patrols made outside the agreed areas of de-escalation and participated in actions that are focused on the fight against Islamic state” (ISIS, a terrorist group banned in Russia).

The Colonel said that the coalition has never stopped supporting its allies in Syria. “There was not a case where we had to sever ties with a proven Syrian opposition group,” he said.

July 26, CNN reported that the international coalition led by the USA asked its allies in Syria should focus on fighting terrorists, not the Syrian government. As reported by Dillon, Washington “supports only those forces that are committed to the fight against ISIS,” and representatives of “Shuhada al-Karten” stated that it can pursue other objectives.

The agreement on the establishment of a de-escalation in Syria, was reached at an international meeting in Astana in the beginning of the month. Organize them in Idlib, North of HOMS, Eastern ghouta and in the South of the middle Eastern States. Also at the end of the G20 summit in Hamburg announced the creation of a zone of de-escalation in the area of Deraa, Quneitra and es-Sweida.

The international coalition led by the US, acting on Syrian territory since September 2014. The operation is performed without the consent of Damascus. The Russian military operation in Syria began in September of 2015 after the official request from the government of the Republic.
