Vassily Nebenzia
Permanent representative of Russia to the United Nations appointed Vasily Nebenzia. The corresponding decree was signed by President Vladimir Putin, said the press service of the Kremlin. Also, the sebenza will represent Moscow at the UN Security Council.
By another decree, the diplomat dismissed the Deputy Minister of foreign Affairs, which he has held since June 2013.
The candidacy of Nebenzu, as reported by sources, was approved by the state Duma Committee on international Affairs in may of this year. In the same month, it was supported by relevant Committee of Federation Council.
The position of Russia’s permanent representative to the UN became vacant in February in connection with the death of Vitaly Churkin, who held the position since April 2006. After the death of the diplomat, the acting permanent representative was appointed first Deputy Churkin, Pyotr Ilyich.
Basil Nebesa 55 years in the diplomatic service he started in 1983. In particular, from 1996 to 2000 he worked in the Russian mission to the UN, then moved to the Department of international organizations Ministry of foreign Affairs. From November 2006 to November 2011, he was Deputy permanent representative to the world trade organization in Geneva, after he headed the Department for humanitarian cooperation and human rights Ministry of foreign Affairs. In June 2013 he became Deputy Minister of foreign Affairs.
