Almost two thirds of Russians are exposed to negative environmental factors, said the head of Ministry of Russia Sergey Donskoy. His statement was published on Tuesday, July 25, RIA Novosti.
“The estimated population of Russia is exposed to any negative environmental factors in connection with the contamination of drinking water, atmospheric air and soil, in 2015 amounted to 89 million people”, — Donskoy said during a meeting of the coordinating Council of commissioners for human rights on the protection of human rights to a favourable environment.
In 27 regions, according to him, there is a pronounced hygienic problems. Among them, the Amur and Magadan region, Yakutia and Perm Krai, Arkhangelsk oblast, Republic of Dagestan, Ingushetia, Karelia, Komi, Irkutsk oblast, Republic of Khakassia, Kurgan, Ivanovo and Tver regions, the Jewish Autonomous oblast, Novgorod, Kemerovo, Vladimir and Smolensk regions, Khabarovsk, TRANS-Baikal and Krasnoyarsk Krai, Chelyabinsk, Kirov, Murmansk and Sverdlovsk oblast and Primorsky Krai.
The Minister cited data showing that in a year from adverse environmental factors in the world dies of 13 million people. In particular, they cause 19 percent of all cancers, one third of all illnesses among children under five years, exacerbating cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases.
