In Armenia you want to release the culprit in New Moscow with 18 dead
YEREVAN, 24 Jul — RIA Novosti. Hrachya Harutyunyan guilty in road accident in New Moscow, which claimed in 2013, the lives of 18 people, can free in Armenia because of health problems. About the Agency Sputnik Armenia told his father-in-law Viktor Martirosyan.
Hrachya Harutyunyan, sentenced in Russia to 6 years 9 months, was extradited to Armenia on 20 July this year to serve the remainder of his sentence in the manner prescribed by the European Convention “On transfer of sentenced persons.”
Now Harutyunyan, there are serious health problems, said Martirosyan. According to him, the son-in-law was examined by the doctors of the penal institution “Nubarashen”, indicating the need for surgery. It is not excluded that Harutyunyan will operate during the month.
Martirosyan said that Hrachya problems with the heart, spine and cancer. Lawyers do not rule out the possibility that Harutyunyan within two months will be released from serving the punishment.
“And because of the illness, and due to the fact that he’s not a criminal, he was in custody after the accident. And since two-thirds of the time he has already served, as lawyers say, the permission to start the process of parole. In Armenia, this law applies to people who have served a term of four years. A Marshal is imprisoned for four years and two months,” — said Martirosyan, adding that in this case must be mapped to the requirements of the relevant laws of Armenia and Russia.
In July 2013, in the Trinity area of New Moscow Harutyunyan, driving a loaded gravel truck collided with a passenger bus. The accident 18 people were killed and over 60 injured. In 2014, the relatives of the convicted person appealed to the Ministry of justice of Armenia with a request for assistance in his extradition to his homeland. In July 2017, Harutyunyan was brought to Armenia to serve the remainder of his sentence.
