The option to order Halal food in popular Chinese app Meituan has caused a flurry of criticism from citizens. This reports the South China Morning Post.
According to the newspaper, to convince customers of halennest dishes, the company promised to package these orders are in separate containers. User-Muslims regarded the emergence of such option as discrimination.
“Respect for them as minority — this is normal. But do not forget that we are the majority. Why Meituan provides them with an exclusive service?” — asked one of the users of social network Weibo (Chinese equivalent Twitter).
The other of the outraged customer wrote: “Muslims need a box even for food delivery. This shows the attitude towards non-Muslims. Meituan, you help them create problems for us. I will never use your service.”
As specifies the edition, the new option is only available in certain areas of mainland China.
Is called Halal food prepared in strict compliance with the set forth in the Qur’an rules. Muslims are forbidden, in particular, to use pork and also meat of other animals slaughtered or slain with violations of the traditions.
