Near Smolensk archeologists found a sword warrior X century
Scientists discovered on the territory of the Gnezdovo archaeological complex in the Smolensk region the remnants of the sword militia of the tenth century, said at the Smolensk state Museum-reserve. About it reports “Interfax”.
According to the Agency, the finding of the sword — an extremely rare event, “feast for archaeologists”. According to the interlocutor of the Agency, throughout the former Soviet Union found a total of 16 swords “Frankish” style, “and five of them in the study of burial mounds of the Gnezdovo archaeological complex”.
The sword was found in the grave of a combatant during the excavations of the expedition of Moscow state University. University and State historical Museum.
