The U.S. Treasury Department imposed sanctions against a Russian citizen Malik Barkhanoev suspected of having links with a terrorist group “Islamic state” (IG, is prohibited in Russia). This was reported on the website of the Department.
It is clarified that Barkhanoev through Turkey was in Syria, where he trained in the camp of the extremists. After that he joined the militants in fighting in Syrian territory.
“In 2015, Barkhanoev officially admitted that fought on the side of the IG and was in the Syrian city of Manbij”, — stated in the message.
All property of the citizen, under the jurisdiction of the United States, arrested, U.S. citizens are prohibited from participating in any transactions with him.
