The acting head of Mordovia Vladimir Volkov has called the Russian Ambassador to the USA Sergei Kislyak in one of three candidates for the post of Senator of the Republic. This was reported on the official portal of public authorities of Mordovia, Friday, July 21.
“Sergei Kislyak is a real patriot of the Motherland, his whole life he devoted to the protection of the interests of the state and people of Russia. It has huge diplomatic and life experience, which I am sure will be to the benefit of Mordovia”, — said Volkov.
In addition to diplomat, contenders for the Senate seat may be the main Federal inspector of the Republic Vladimir Sizganov and the head of city district Saransk Pyotr Tultaev.
Earlier on Friday, the acting head of Udmurtia Alexander Brechalov proposed as candidates to the senators, the head of Rossotrudnichestvo Lyubov Glebova, Director of the Foundation “Community” Ivan Tcherezov and chief Federal inspector in the Republic Dmitry Musin.
July 18, “Interfax” with reference to its sources reported that Sergey Kislyak may be delegated to the Federation Council after the September elections.
A week earlier, “Izvestia” wrote that Kislyak will return to Moscow on July 22. May 18, the candidacy of the Deputy head of the Russian foreign Ministry Anatoly Antonov to the post of Ambassador to the United States approved by the state Duma Committee on international Affairs, and after four days — the relevant Committee of the Federation Council.
66-year-old Sergey Kislyak is the Ambassador of Russia in the United States since 2008.
