Yerevan rejected the idea to give the Russian language the status of state
YEREVAN, 17 Jul — RIA Novosti. Russian language will not get in Armenia the status of the official, the agenda of Yerevan this is not an issue. In a conversation with Sputnik Armenia, said Chairman of the permanent parliamentary Commission on foreign relations Armen Ashotyan.
Earlier it was reported that at the meeting with Chairman of the Parliament of the Transcaucasian Republic Ara Babloyan the speaker of the state Duma Vyacheslav Volodin has offered Yerevan to secure official status for the Russian language in the country’s legislation to the national driver’s license could be recognized on the territory of Russia.
“For us, the Russian — language world, but in our agenda and never will be the issue of giving the Russian language official status and fixing it in the Constitution”, — said Ashotyan, adding that negotiations with Russia on the recognition of the Armenian driver’s license in other formats will continue.
From June 1, citizens with a foreign driver’s license is no longer eligible to work in Russia’s professional drivers. The law was adopted in connection with the increase in the number of accidents that occur involving foreigners. For violation of the law and admission to the management of drivers without Russian driving licenses officials will be fined 50 thousand rubles. However, the decision does not apply to citizens of Belarus and Kyrgyzstan. As explained Vyacheslav Volodin, this is because the rules of the road residents of the two countries studied in the Russian language.
