In the night from 16 to 17 July 1918 in Ekaterinburg the family was shot last Russian Emperor Nicholas Romanov.

The shooting of the family of Nicholas II in Yekaterinburg in the night of 16 to 17 July 1918 was not sanctioned by the top leadership of the Bolsheviks. Despite all attempts of historians to find evidence of such a decision, they were not detected. The shooting was carried out pursuant to the decision of the Executive Committee of the Ural regional Soviet of workers’, peasants ‘and soldiers’ deputies, in which, in addition to the Bolsheviks, representatives of other political parties.

The formal reason for the decision on the execution of the family of Nicholas II began to rapidly attack whites in Ekaterinburg, during which there was a threat that members of the Royal family would be released.

Information about the fact that in Yekaterinburg was preparing a conspiracy, whose members set themselves the task to free the Royal family, confirm the finds. Probably a note from some “friends” with plans to move members of the family of Nicholas II was thrown up by local security officers.

Yakov Yurovsky, directly led the execution of the family of Nicholas II, departed this life August 2, 1938, in the midst of “great terror”. However, unlike many of his comrades in the party, Yurovsky was not a victim of repression — he died in hospital after a serious illness.

Many details of the execution of the Royal family published in the press in the 1990-ies, do not correspond to reality.

In particular, in the basement of the Ipatiev house, there was no funeral inscriptions and other signs, which could treat it as a kind of ritual act.
