In China, cremated the body of Nobel laureate Liu Xiaobo
Moscow. July 15. INTERFAX.RU — IN China, cremated the body of human rights activist, Nobel peace prize laureate Liu Xiaobo, tell on Saturday, the Agency “Xinhua”.
Farewell ceremony, which was attended by only friends and relatives of the deceased and was held in Shenyang.
Liu Xiaobo died last Thursday, he was 62 years old. The last 11 years he spent in a Chinese prison on charges of inciting Subversion of the state system. In may the human rights activist was diagnosed with cancer, therefore, he was transferred to hospital, but was not allowed to leave the country for treatment abroad.
In 2010 he was awarded the Nobel peace prize for “non-violent struggle for human rights in China”.
