The authorities of Sakhalin invited Japan to enter to the Russian citizens the possibility of a three-day stay in the country without a permit for entry. This was announced by the Minister of economic development of the region Alexey Belik, reports “Interfax” on Friday, July 14.
“We invited the Japanese side to return to the consideration of this question. It would be a logical step for the Japanese authorities to the Russian citizens could visit the country without visas within 72 hours,” said the Minister.
According to him, this proposal was voiced during the visit of the Japanese business mission to visit the South Kuril Islands to study the issues of joint economic activities on these territories.
The leadership of the region have repeatedly offered the Japanese authorities to introduce a three-day visa-free stay for citizens of Russia, who went to Japan through the checkpoints on the territory of Sakhalin, the Agency said.
At the end of June with a five-day visit to South Kuril Islands attended the business mission of Japan. It was headed by the special adviser to the Prime Minister of Japan eiichi Hasegawa.
