Briton sentenced to five years in prison for involvement in the conflict in the Donbass

Moscow. July 14. INTERFAX.RU a Court in Manchester sentenced a British citizen Benjamin Stimson to five years and four months in prison for participating in armed conflict in the South-East of Ukraine, said on Friday the “bi-Bi-si”.

41-year-old Stimson pleaded guilty to that were going to commit terrorist acts and participate in their preparation.

The Briton who hold far-left views, went to the Donbass in 2015 and joined the ranks of the militia volunteers. In total he spent in the South-Eastern Ukraine, four months and during that time, according to him, almost did not participate in the fighting: he drove an ambulance.

The Stimson arrested immediately upon his return home to Manchester airport. He was charged in 2016 and has since been held incommunicado. He became the first UK citizen convicted of involvement in the fighting in the Donbass.
