The majority of Russians (73 per cent) admitted that they use in their speech profanity. However, half of them (58 per cent) mothers only under the influence of strong emotions. As reported on Friday, July 14, RIA Novosti, according to a survey of Fund “Public opinion”.
Every fourth participant of the study (26 per cent) stated that they never use swear words. 62 percent of respondents believe that resorting to profanity is unacceptable under any circumstances, 36 percent think it’s possible.
About the same people answered the question about the possibility of the use of profanity in works of art (60% against, 37 for). The majority of respondents (77 percent) supported the introduction of fines for the use of unprintable words in the media, 18 percent hold the opposite opinion.
Initiative of the state Duma to introduce administrative liability for using foul language at home was supported by 28 percent of respondents. 11 percent of them are motivated by a need “to protect children from obscene expressions,” and 7 percent called Mat, in principle, unacceptable. Not approved of the idea by 64 percent, because, in their opinion, “the invasion of privacy unacceptable.”
The survey was conducted from 8 to 9 July in 104 settlements of Russia. It was attended by 1.5 thousand respondents.
On 22 June the state Duma Committee on state construction and legislation approved and recommended for adoption in the first reading of a bill extending sanctions for disorderly conduct, including foul language, not only in public places but also in homes.
