MOSCOW, 12 APR — RIA Novosti. Navy of Sri Lanka held a 12-hour rescue operation carried out in open sea elephant, according to Agence France-Presse.
The representative of naval forces of Sri Lanka told the Agency that the animal was discovered about eight kilometers from the shore. He suggested that the elephant took to the sea when he crossed the lagoon Kokkilai in the East of Sri Lanka.
A rescue operation was conducted by divers with the support of environmentalists. With the help of ropes rescuers pulled the animal to shore. “It’s a wonderful ending of the story for an elephant”, — concluded the Agency interlocutor.
