Llamas were used for transportation of goods by the Israeli army, including during the Second Lebanon war (2006), but recently, the army authorities came to the conclusion that they slow down movement of units.
Experimental remote-controlled robots are able to move at a speed 5 to 10 km/h. Soldiers can adjust the speed of the robots in accordance with the speed and pace of your Hiking March. The robot is equipped with a battery charge which is enough for eight hours of non-stop use.
Robotic transporters have already participated in the exercises at battalion and regimental level. From September they will be included in the composition of infantry units “to study”, as reported by the newspaper, an unnamed IDF officer.
