The girl from Nepal died after a snake bite: according to ancient custom were not allowed doctors. About it reports The Independent.
She was sent to “menstruation hut” due to the fact that she was menstruating. There she was twice bitten by a snake. “She lived seven hours and died because medical care was not rendered in time”, — said the representative of the local administration. According to locals, the girl’s family tried to seek help from the local shaman, however, he was unable to cure her.
In accordance with the ancient customs of Nepal, women during menstruation or immediately after childbirth are considered impure and they cannot participate in family activities and contact with men. They are also exiled to a separate room and less feed. This custom is widely distributed in the West of Nepal, though prohibited by law since 2005.
