The interests of the Russian and Ukrainian peoples coincide, but they are contrary to the purposes of the management of the neighboring state, said Russian President Vladimir Putin at a press conference following the summit of “Big twenty” in Hamburg. “They have only one product, which they successfully trade — is Russophobia. And yet they sell the policy of the separation of Russia and Ukraine, pilfering peoples of the two countries,” he said.
Putin stressed that in the West, where there are forces interested in the absence of rapprochement between Kiev and Moscow, “someone like that”.
However, the head of state expressed hope that “it will ever end.” “We, at least, interested in the fact that this situation ended as quickly as possible”, — said Putin. He also recalled that he had discussed the crisis in Ukraine with the American President Donald trump.
Earlier on Saturday, German Chancellor Angela Merkel announced the telephone conversations of the leaders of “Norman Quartet” — Russia, Ukraine, Germany and France on resolving the situation in the South-East of Ukraine. On the same day, Merkel, Putin and French leader Emmanuel macron held talks, the results of which stated serious lags in the implementation of provisions of the Minsk agreements.
